Individualized learning/teaching for optimal comprehension

I started tutoring in my teens helping young children with Autism Spectrum Disorders develop English and Math skills as well as speech therapy and public speaking. I tutored my fellow students while attending Carroll Community College in English 101 and 102 as well as Creative Writing. I then moved on to being a one on one with high school students with special needs in the Baltimore area.

Students can be and are easily frustrated with work that is either beyond their ability or more advanced. Frustration can be either eliminated or reduced when students have a better understanding of their work. I would say that my teaching style is very interactive. Anyone can give instructions but I love feedback from a one on one situation as well as a group environment. I base alot of my instruction on analogies; when a person can relate an experience or another word to a term being tought, their understanding is broadened and 99% of the time embedded in the longterm memory.
