A Little Bit About Me...

I tutor my mom with college math when I was in middle school. I also helped my cousin when I was in middle school with all her subjects in high school. Now I am helping my sister with her elementary classes. I am more invovled with math since I did welding as a technical degree. Individualized learning/teaching for optimal comprehension

I started tutoring in my teens helping young children with Autism Spectrum Disorders develop English and Math skills as well as speech therapy and public speaking. I tutored my fellow students while attending Carroll Community College in English 101 and 102 as well as Creative Writing. I then moved on to being a one on one with high school students with special needs in the Baltimore area.
I take a hands on material approach to learning/teaching. My initial approach is to ascertain exactly where the student stands prior to starting any course work. Students can be and are easily frustrated with work that is either beyond their ability or more advanced. Frustration can be either eliminated or reduced when students have a better understanding of their work. When teaching Math, my experiences have also taught me that younger students are very hands on and tend to absorb concepts quicker when they are able to manipulate objects enabling them to better understand the concrete. I have always wanted to teach. When I was a child I would round up the kids in my neighborhood and make them do lessons that I created. I do remember they did not like that. I went to college and earned a BS in Biology always knowing that I would eventually teach the sciences.
