Hands-On Learning

I love to interact with children. I believe that children should be involved with their school work. Hands on work and visual interactions help when certain curriculums don't sink in. Involving children to learn, beyond taking notes, helps them understand difficult subject and also helps them retain them better to memory.

Volunteer and worker at camp Kids Inc for two and a half years. Read to elementary students 3 times a week and help them with reading comprehension. Volunteered to be a mentor to a junior high girl. I helped her with advice but also just was a support for her when she needed it. Worked at a sports team camp teaching little kids from the ages of kindergarten through sixth grade how to play volleyball.
Students must understand that they have come to me to learn more. But I also want to enjoy the time I have with them so they feel like learning is fun.

Basic Learning Skills is one of my top subjects! This set of skills below is where I really 'shine'

My teaching 'style' is a bit unique, in my opinion. By that, I mean that every child/student 'learns' differently, so I must 'adapt' my style 'on the fly' after determining what is the most effective approach/style/method for that individual student. In addition, the subject that I am teaching also affects my style and some 'tools' that I learned as a youngster and a teacher are also implemented frequently.
I was trained to be a teacher at CSU-Fresno, where I graduated in May, 1999. I substituted for 3 consecutive years in Fresno, Clovis, and Madera Unified School districts at grade levels 3-12. I received my Master's Degree in Sports Administration from the American Public University system in May, 2011, and graduated with Honors and a 4.0 GPA. I graduated from California Polytechnic State University in San Luis Obispo and have been contemplating getting my teaching credential ever since.
