A Little Bit About Me...

I moved to North Carolina shortly after graduating in August 2007. I was a teacher Assistant in a Kindergarten classroom. I helped the teacher create lesson plans, I helped children is small groups and one on one. I also served as a team teacher since I had my teaching degree. I also taught whenever needed. This past year I began the school year off in Ohio working as a substitute for 3 different school districts. I worked in several different grade levels including special ed. Then in December, I landed a job with Head Start teaching preschool to 3-5 year olds.
I love teaching and being around children. I love watching them grow and learn new things. I love the excitement and joy they have when they learn something new. I firmly believe that every child is capable of learning hard concepts, they just have to be taught in a way that is applicable to them. So I first like to get to know the student and try to figure out their learning style and teach them according to how they learn. This helps me figure out where the root of the problem is so I can fix it. Then I like to use a lot of visual and hands-on lessons because children need that to really grasp concepts and to apply it in different situations.
