My experience teaching academic subjects is fairly limited, however, for the past four years I have volunteered as an assistant instructor at my martial arts school whenever my sensei has needed the help, which has given me ample opportunity to work on my teaching techniques with a wide variety of students. I approach teaching in a way that is very versatile and I am willing to adapt to accommodate a variety of learning styles. In general however I tend to back up and work on the material that the student already is familiar and comfortable with. Once some review on the known material has been done I like to begin moving toward the material that is currently being reviewed. The length of time spent in the "review phase" is completely dependent on the student's current situation. A Little Bit About Me...

I taught preschool for 5 years and had a home day care center for 4 years. I have worked as a paraprofessional at Springfield Elementary for the 3 years and was an after school tutor for the SES program for 2 terms for two different companies. Although I have not yet applied for certification, I am eligible for certification for Elementary Education as I have passed the FTCE K-6 certification exam.
Children are individuals and you must find their style of learning and be able to adapt your teaching style for that child. I believe that you must geniunely love children and teaching to be able to reach children. They can sense when someone really cares.
