After three years I taught for one year at Clayton Primary in a multi-handicapped class. I then transferred to Four Oaks Middle School in 1993 where I continue to teach. I taught children's church for five years, while in high school and college. I attended Mt. Olive College for two years and transferred to East Carolina University to obtain a degree in Elementary Education. I received my BS in Elementary Education, as well as a certification in Reading for K-12. I did my student teaching with a third grade class; I was early released(Nov.2008) from my student teaching to take a kindergarten position. I am about to begin the my third school year as a kindergarten teacher. This past year, I completed a 20-30 hour Just Read! North Carolina course. His son didn't understand his mathematics most of the time, so I agreed to tutor him every week. The more tutoring I gave his son, the better his grades were. In Oct. 2007, I worked for UNLV's Gear-Up as a teacher's assistant and tutor. My assignment was at Sedway Middle School in North Las Vegas, NV. The teachers and the staff were very good to me, and I loved that job for a whole year. Mathematics and reading are my definite strongpoints.

Being a mother of teenagers gives me an edge as a teacher. I have tremendous patience and understanding of the daily lives of young people.
