Writing is one of my top subjects!

I have an incredible passion for teaching. I am currently in the process of getting my Bachelors in Secondary Education with a focus in English. I have knowledge of the structure and content of the English language and thoroughly enjoy teaching others composition, spelling, creative writing, reading, vocabulary, etc. I do not have much experience yet in a classroom setting but have volunteered at a middle school while getting my Associates degree. I helped a teacher at a middle school to teach students that were having difficulty in various subjects.
I am a hands on teacher, probably because I am a hands on learner. I find it difficult to learn when an instructor is solely lecturing. I believe that constant practice and hands on lessons are the most effective ways of learning.

A Little Bit About Me...

As I am a very auditory/visual learner, I tend to to lean towards both auditory and visual techniques. I question the students as to what he or she intended to say in their writing, what is the intent of the paper--will this persuade the reader, inform the reader, compare/contrast ideas-- and see if the writer is in fact accomplishing this goal through effect word choices, sound reasoning, specific examples, and other components of writing. The hope is to edit the document for clarity geared towards the reader of the document and to polish the writing skills of the student.

I received my B.S. in physics and went on to work at a Community College tutoring math. I enjoyed this work immensely and received excellent reviews from the students. While working at the college I also tutored middle school and high school students privately. In High School I took a class on Society and the Child which involved tutoring english and math two days a week for a fourth grade class. I earned my BA in PR and Journalism. My course of study required me to be able to write and spell correctly, as well as being able to form grammatically correct sentences. During and after college, I held jobs that required me to write articles, media releases, do research, and serve as a media rep for a large corporation. I taught for two years at Yavapai College as an adjunct instructor. After acquiring an MS, I worked in the human services field that also included much teaching...but in different subjects.
