I tutored peers in different levels of math in high school, worked in a first grade classroom my junior year helping the teacher with spelling, reading and math. I volunteered in a preschool in all the ages of classrooms and helped with arts and crafts, letter practice with the older age groups and reading with all the ages. As Cal Poly SLO has one of the most competitive engineering programs on the west coast, I have a depth of knowledge in both math and sciences. After earning my B.S. in Biomedical Engineering, I lived in Germany, Ohio, and Central California while trying to figure out my place in this world. I settled for two years in Salinas, California where I taught pre-algebra, algebra, and geometry to junior high and high school students. I believe this level of math is the most important as applications to everyday life are abundant.
As the school I taught at was private, the students were very competitive. I found my lectures and class activities reached 90% of the students. The remaining 10% were the students I especially loved to instruct. Children are amazing! I have been around children of all ages for most of my life due to a large family.
