In high school, I completed 4 years of Italian classes. Three of those years I was in honors classes, along with being the Italian tutor for all levels. I was chosen to be in the Italian Honors Society in my senior year. Also in that year (2008), I was awarded the medal for the Most Outstanding Italian Student, which is given to the senior with the highest GPA over four years of Italian classes. I have 27 years of experience in high school teaching. I taught Italian 1,2,3,4 and AP in a public high school in the northwest suburbs of Chicago. I also sponsored the Italian Club and took students on excursion in Italy over the years. Recently I helped start a student exchange program with a school in Sicily.

Italian is one of my top subjects! I have been studying the Italian language and culture since 2009 and have been living in Italy since 2012. My teaching experience includes two years of high school language courses in Italy and also the tutoring of children ages 6-11.

My teaching style is more non traditional. I use many games that come from my theatrical background. Many of the games require students to be on their feet. I make learning Italian a physical process, not just a mental one. I focus on the importance of the pronunciation of words. I use pictures and film clip to engage both visual and auditory learners.
