I plan to double major in mathematics and physics and then transfer to a graduate college, where I will be studying for my masters in engineering. My passion for math comes from my desire to be an engineer in the future, and since then I have disciplined myself to getting good grades in math. In high school, I took every possible math class that was offered and graduated with honors and a 4.9 GPA. I am currently taking calculus and physics and hope to keep getting good grades in both subjects.

Engineering student at UMD, well versed in many subjects.

I am currently enrolled as a student at the University of Maryland, College Park, in my junior year studying mechanical engineering. Prior to my studies at UMD, I took several classes at Frederick Community College, while in high school. While on my way to this level, I have taken many interesting classes and seen both effective and ineffective methods of communicating the critical content of these subjects. I am very familiar with both high school and college level math and science, and still use many of those principles in my current studies. I do have limited tutoring experience, mostly from tutoring friends and family.

A Little Bit About Me...

Education has always been my field of interest. When my children were young (8 and 4), I've been teaching in order to match my schedule with their school hours and vacations. With French as my mother's tongue and because I studied in French, I was very excited about the opportunity to serve the Foreign Langage Program initiated by the PTA at Montgomery County Public Schools in MD. I've been teaching within this program until I moved in Western Maryland recently. In parallel, I was a substitute teacher with the county. I passed the PRAXIS tests(I, II, III). I taught also with BELL program in after school program to help students in DC public schools. I worked as well as accounting and went to college to get additional credits for the CPA exam. I will be glad to be a help for students that need additional time outside regular school hours to succeed. I understand very well this ne ... read more

Over the past twelve years I have taught a range of subjects including basic Math and English to students with a range of learning difficulties, including dyslexia, ADHD, and Autism. During the past two academic years I have tutored Math and Biology at a local private high school and have really enjoyed the experience. Teaching is something that has always come natural to me. Whether its giving golf lessons out at the local country club, or teaching my younger siblings math and chemistry. It is something that I enjoy and I will persist until results are shown. My teaching style is to first observe, then diagnose flaws and work from there. I have much faith in the capability of the human brain and believe each individual is capable of greatness. Thus, I never give up on any student and trust that they too will be able to do or learn what I have.
As a graduate of the Department of Engineering at Vanderbilt University, I feel I am very qualified in tutoring Calculus 1 and 2. Not only have I taken the classes both in high school and during my time at Vanderbilt, the engineering curriculum reinforced these theories by integrating Calculus into nearly every core class that I took. A Little Bit About Me...

I attended ASU where I had an excellent tutor in chemistry that took me as a math/stats tutor under his wing. I learned great personal tutoring techniques and tutored a range of students from middle school to college. I have excellent math/stats background and can tutor anything from basic elementary classes to advanced college level math/stats classes.
I am a one on one mentor/role model/teacher that explains problems in a fashion to the students understanding. Math is often very hard for people to understand because they can't apply it to real world situations. I take the problems and teach the student how to see the problem in the easiest way for them. I also believe on hands on learning so I will explain the problem, show them how to do it, then have them try it until they full understand it.

A Little Bit About Me...

I like to take the "mystery" out of the subject. Math can be especially scary to students who don't have a strong foundation in general mathematics and reading comprehension. I am currently volunteer tutoring an adult friend in general math and I am proud to say that her understanding of the basic principles have increased dramatically in only a couple of sessions. I like to teach students how to take each problem apart into its seperate components. Once they can understand each individual component and how it works, they are able to see the entire system much more readily.
I have assisted a number of students; Grades 1-12 as well as college-aged and continuing education in various math and science courses. My previous career included 27 years in the television industry at various local production facilities in Oklahoma, Texas, Maryland as well as the Washington DC bureau of the A ... read more

My teaching style is participatory as in I allow the students to dictate whether they want to focus more on theory or problem solving. I discuss the important concepts and let students decide the pace and depth in which they want to delve into them. I always try to relate the textbook concepts to real life examples.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have tutored many different kinds of students, adjusting my teaching style to see what works best for them. I am very patient and can explain things in more than one way. I try to see how the student learns and understands best so that I can adjust and we can make the most of our time. It can be very frustrating for the student to not understand immediately, but breaking down the problem into multiple doable steps can give the student a sense of accomplishment as well as hope to try another problem. I always try to give the student more confidence in the subject and I want them to enjoy learning.
