I adjust to the student/learner as I am told or discover their learning preferences. However, in my experience and research, I have noticed that active learning and discovery-based learning are arguably most effective mechanisms for knowledge retention. Therefore, I make considerable efforts to implement these styles into my teaching.
I have always been passionate about communications and teaching. I began tutoring mathematics in High School and during my undergraduate schooling I mentored and tutored introductory university level physics, calculus, chemistry, and organic chemistry. I usually start sessions with any questions they have, here is where I would explain concepts in terms easier to understand (usually methods I used when learning the material). Once they feel comfortable will ask them questions that range from simple plug and chug math problems, to more complex explanations.
