Passion to teach students to be successful!

I am a retired teacher with over 38 years of teaching both children and adults with diverse backgrounds. I have a BA and Masters degree in Education with an endorsement in ESL/Bilingual Education. I was a reading coach for 8 years where I taught teachers the best practices in teaching reading. I have taught every grade level and including college level. The last 4 years I have taught international students in an intensive English language program at a college level. Confidence creates an interest in learning

Substitute Teaching from 03/15/2011 to present Chess Instructor from 12/17/2003 to 04/30/2004 Tutor for Western Michigan University 09/15/1997-04/30/2000. I have taught students ranging fro pre-school to 12th grade and also tutored at the unversity level. I feel most confident with students ranging from 3rd to 6th grade and at the college level or older. My main strengths are an ability to adapt to students with special needs and recognize that a lack of interest or focus is often the result of a lack of confidence.
