My teaching style is relaxed. Students like how I am able to make writing fun with exercises to build their confidence, and improve their choice of words and clarify what they are trying to say.
I am passionalte about writing and have taught in K-12 for over 10 years. I have vast experience teaching writing at both high school and college level. I currently teach Composition classes at our local community college. I understand what is required of students to be successful in both high school and college. I graduated from Saginaw Valley State University with a degree in Secondary Education and am certified in the State of Michigan to teach 6-12th grade English and math. Along with completing student teaching, I have substitute taught in various districts as well as tutored homeschool students. I volunteer at my church as a Sunday School teacher, and during college I participated as a conversation partner in the English as a Second Language program.

A Little Bit About Me...

Dr. Segal taught us that traditional teaching methods are outmoded. Therefore I came to my own conclusion that as a teacher I would allow my students to confront me on their terms and make the learning experience as relaxed as possible. Students won't learn anything if A) the environment is unsuited to them and B) if you jump down their throat over every little thing. The important question to ask them is "why?" or "what do you think?" In regards to myself teaching is an avenue that I am considering and thus a bit of real tutoring would give me a taste of how I should go about teaching in the future.
