Mathematically, I teach from a logical, or procedural approach. As students work their way up to Calculus and further, it is important to understand the process of problem-solving and not focus on the numbers alone. Many sciences can become abstract, I like to relate topics to things students may encounter everyday or already understand in order to get a foundation before complicating topics with smaller detail. I am very positive and try to push students as fast as they absorb the information. I feel it is hard to enjoy a subject if you do not understand it or see how it effects you. I have always been a reader and a writer. In my degree work, I learned how to inspire others to read critically and write well. I have many years experience as a college-level instructor. I also work locally with high school students at my church. In addition, I have worked at Writing Centers at several institutions. I also have helped with successful grant writing for several local organizations. My classrooms involve learning-centered groups in a workshop approach. I find that students are encouraged by the examples of other writers and learners at their own levels. I provide a great deal of individual feedback on assignments. I encourage the imitation of examples in writing and the discovery of other writing styles. I am sensitive to the needs and learning needs of each student.

I love to put myself in the students' shoes. I have the ability to relate to the students on an individual level and they respect me. I always hope that no one is left behind just because they are afraid to ask questions. I believe in having fun while learning and in being honest with your students. I taught one semester of College Algebra at Illinois State University. I was responsible for 2 sections of lab while I completed graduate credits for a Master's in Mathematics. I achieved my M.Ed. from American Intercontinental University where I held a 4.0 GPA.
