Many of these children were living in more challenging home environments, sometimes lacking a father and or living in a troubled neighborhood. My textbook strengths would anything math, finance, accounting, and business related. My teaching style is very simple and I believe it is effective. I have found that going through problems does not always help kids learn. I always try to tutor the basics and establish a plan for problem solving. The children need to know how to attach a problem not how to plug numbers into equations.
