My comments on tutoring Homework Help : As an teacher for over 30 years, I can certainly help students develop their homework skills.

I try to engage my student, to tease the learning out of him or her. I have learned to explain, to give the information then to step back, allowing my student to think through to the conclusion. The second most important thing about being a mentor is to create understanding about the underlying principle of whatever it is he or she is learning about.
