I have been an elementary education classroom teacher for 30 years. I have taught in Walker County, Hamilton County, The Bright School, and Cumberland Hall Psychiatric Hospital for children and adolescents. I have taught in a variety of settings and enjoyed each one. I would enjoy continuing to help in the education of any student who would need my assistance. I work 1:1 or in small groups, even in a whole classroom setting. As the second oldest of six kids I have a lot of at-home experience in tutoring. With a BA in Biology I feel very equipped to teach children in sciences. During my time at college, I created a mentoring committee for underclassman that focused on business related items and school curriculum. As I spent most of my time in groups studying, I learned that I was very good at explaining principles and material, regardless of subject matter. I am patient, warm, and pleasant. What I do is not so much teach the material as a way to learn the material. My methods are to understand the subject matter the students are weak on and learn it with them, displaying that it takes time learning anything and most of the work in understanding subjects are difficult.
