My comments on tutoring Political Science : I have published a 'Brief History of the United States" and have tutored many high school and college students in government and political science. I have run for and held public office, myself. I am patient and understanding.

I prefer a Lecture Based Style utilizing visuals such as detailed maps, art depiction of historical moments, as well as videos of First-Hand Accounts of what occurred during discussions involving modern times.

My teaching style is focused on student achievement. Many parents complain that their child does poorly on tests. This is often a result of inadequate teaching practices which fail to recognize individual learning differences in students. Every child has the potential to learn. However, every child is different and therefore, learns differently. It is important for an educator to understand this. I volunteered at the Ocean County Library writing center for four years and helped my peers construct, organize, and layout essays. I also proofread, edited, and helped in the creative process of their essays. I am curreently working part-time at Ocean County Library (Lakewood Branch) tutoring k-12 students after school in the S.M.A.R.T kids program.
I focus on starting small and helping the student develop on their own. For example, when I teach how to write a strong essay, we write many drafts of an introduction. Then, we write many drafts of body paragraphs. Last, we would focus on writing a conclusion. Then, by working seperately on all of an essay's parts, the combined product is much stronger. The art of teaching is similiar to building a house: you start with an idea, then a foundation, and finally the framework.

My style tends to be laid back so that students are comfortable expressing their likes and dislikes with me, curbing their fear of not understanding something.
