My comments on tutoring Homework Help : I have taught Kindergarten, 2nd Grade, 3rd Grade, and 5th Grade. I am certified K-6th grade. I also taught advanced and Intermediate math and language arts in a GED/HiSet program. I currently teach ESOL/CIVICS for an Adult School.

I have taught 5th Grade Math and Science, 3rd Grade, 2nd Grade as an Interventionist, Kindergarten, and most recently Advanced Math and Language Arts / ESOL/CIVICS in and Adult GED/HiSet program. I have the ability to motivate and light the fire of interest in my students by incorporating in my teaching full emersion projects. Using an approach that fully immerses my students in the subject they are learning gives them the opportunity to learn firsthand instead of being merely a receiver of information. I call this approach “Walk a mile”. I have used this approach in many of my student teaching as well as substituting experiences. For example, in a second grade class that was learning about reading maps I became Pirate Scary Sherry and took the students on a treasure hunt. I dressed like a pirate and told the students that I buried a treasure somewhere in the classroom. I made s ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

My personal style varies on the pupil. These may vary from simply being frustrated with the curriculum to a myriad of influences. My style is considered out of the box, meaning that if the standard method does not "click" with him/her, then I enjoy finding something of interest to them, to relate that to the subject at hand. Keeping a students interest is paramount to keep them enthusiastic about learning.
Along with a Bachelor's Degree in Business, I have many educational experiences in the area of science, math, history (to name a few). And in all levels of the educational process; from elementary through high school and even collegiate. My previous experience has included high school students and many college undergrads.

My comments on tutoring Homework Help : No hovering! Great patience!

Teaching brings me pleasure. What I do is to show them, help them, then have them do whatever I am teaching them to do. Sometimes one of the steps may have to be repeated, but this process really works well.
I have tutored my friend's daughter in math and English. I have assisted her with science and social studies projects. Her ADHD can inhibit the learning process, but we are able to work through the problems. Learning about weighted blankets helped me work with her. She is a kinetic learner. my nieces are both visual learners. I have to adapt to each learning style.

Dedicated to helping children accomplish personal goals!

I am patient, go at the students level, and believe in the use various types of visual aids and hands on to keep my students engaged. Students learn and retain information quicker with continual repetition; however each student will grasp the information different from another and some will take more repetition than others.
I have been working with special needs students with various disabilities for 10 years. I have worked with students ranging from ADHD/ADD to those who are bed ridded and need toileting assistance. A Little Bit About Me...

I love teaching children. I left working in a commerical insurance job to pursue my passion to work with students. I love to see children glow when they finally get a concept. You can see the light go off when they understand. This is exciting to me as well as the students. I see students, who have given up hope to learn, and become a behaviorial problem because of their inablitilites to read; which is fundamental to be successful in any subject. My real love is working in small groups. I feel this gives me the chance to work more directly with students to undertand their learning styles as well as their deficiencies or sufficiencies in a subject area.
I have been involved with elementary students through the Hamilton County Schools System where I have substituted with long term substitution positions for grade levels K and 5th Grades. Through these positions, I have been invol ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

For the past four years, I have taught first grade students who are struggling with reading, utilizing the Reading Recovery framework. Working one-on-one with each student, I am able to observe their reading behaviors and plan lessons to address reading and writing confusions. During this same time period, I have worked in the Early Intervention Program with first, third, and fourth grade students. This program enables students who are not on grade level to receive small group instruction in the areas of reading and math. I have also been a classroom teacher for third and fifth grade students, as well as a computer teacher for students in grades PreK-6.
All students can learn. It is important for the teacher to begin with what the student knows and build on his/her strengths to accelerate learning. Acute observation and data collected through assessments should be used by the ... read more
