A Little Bit About Me...

I have a fairly informal teaching style, and I tend to use a lot of humor. I try to connect the information I am trying to convey to what the student already knows, rather than simply provide facts to be learned by rote and regurgitated on an exam.
After college I worked for three years.During that time I applied and received a scholarship to the Medical College of Pennsylvania, from which I graduated in 1994. I completed an Internal Medicine Residency at MCP in 1997. After residency I worked as an attending physician in Pittsburgh from 1997 to 2000, and in Berlin, Maryland, from 2001 to 2004. In January, 2004, my wife became severely ill, and I decided to take time off to raise my two young daughters. I taught at the Dawn Training Center in Wilmington, DE, from May to October, 2006. I have taught a few weapons classes and use of force classes as a security forces member in the Air Force. However, I have never taught classes on a regular basis.
As a supervisor and trainer in the military, it was my responsibility to train the new individuals that came into the job. There was a lot of studying material that I constantly had to sit down and go over with them. We made flashcards, took notes, made up quizzes, did verbal question and answers, etc. I actually used to tutor math in High School when I was in an advanced Calculus class and have helped many friends with their college math. As a grad student, I am writing lots of essays which has really helped me with my English skills. I have a lot of academic experience that I would love to utilize while tutoring.

I love to share my knowledge and share my skills with others in a way to help them learn and grow.
