I obtained my BA in Social Work and have worked in that field since 1993. In 2005 I began a part time job as an Adult Education instructor for Sentinel Career Center where my primary focus was language arts/writing. I was part of the STAR reading program where I became certified to teach adults to read. In this program and as a GED instructor I have tutored many individuals of varying ages, education levels and backgrounds. In my work as a social worker, I work primarily with children with mental health issues/learning disabilities where the focus is on behavior, organizational,study and communication skills and parenting education.

As a high school student, I attended Tiffin University to gain college experience and credit earlier than expected. After graduating from Clyde High school, I went on to Ohio State Mansfield, where I majored in psychology and special education. I am currently a full time student at Ashford University online. I truly miss teaching and mentoring kids. I approach teaching as an opportunity to bring out the maximum potential within each student. I am a firm believer each student views learning differently, meaning as educators we need to ensure no student is left behind. I have always been a tutor of sorts. I love to teach kids because of the sparkle they get in their eyes when they finally understand what they are being taught. Each child have a different learning style so I try to work with them to see what works for them. I have worked with kids who have ADD and the gifted. The greatest thing I can teach is that we can teach to create intelligence, but wisdom comes from using all that you know.
