I use a very data-driven teaching style. I like to start by gathering data from parents or teachers to determine what is conceived as the child's biggest hurdles. Then, I will give the child a short assessment based on these identified skills and use what they show me to determine my instruction. I am a firm believer in a healthy balance of exploratory learning and repeated practice. I worked for two years as a tutor mentor for the Upward Bound Program, where I managed a group of 12 college students that tutored and mentored 75 low-income and first generation students in grades 9-12. Also while in college, I have have had the opportunity to work closely with numerous Metro Public Schools around the Nashville area.
