I have been a volunteer for various literacy programs for the past several years, focusing primarily on phonics rather than sight reading. I have worked in two group homes for dually diagnosed adults, meaning both physically and mentally challenged. I went to school online at Ashford University, for 2 years in an accelerated Bachelor's Degree program with a focus on education. With an inborn gift of language art skills and being a tutor for about the past 20 years, I have learned how to relate easily to any age group or functioning level.
I am a creative teacher, meaning that I assess the individual and do not have an agenda that I adhere to. A Little Bit About Me...

I worked at Majesty Christian Academy for two years. During tha time I was a Teacher's Assistant. I assisted lead teacher with student instruction. I also supervised children and were responsible for taking care of children. I was offered a position and taught a computer course to elementary students. I have a Bachelors Degree from Old Dominion University in Education. I enjoy working with children, I prefer working with elementary students.
I believe in a multi facet teaching style. Children learn by many different ways. Some children learn by audio, visual, or kinetic. So, I would teach in a style that suited by the student's needs. I was a tutor for the School of Business and Economics in Elizabeth City where I earned by BS in Business in 2003. I tutored beginning through Intermediate accounting, Principles of Marketing and other business subjects from 2000-2003. I was a formal tutor for one year and a student tutor for 2 years. I currently tutor family members, friends and church members in all basic elementary through college subjects. (ex. Algebra, Physics, Chemistry, Accounting, Statistics,English etc. ) Basically, if you have a book or instructions we can get a passing grade out of the class. I feel comfortable and I am qualified to tutor through Spanish II.
