Children can understand visually, verbally or in written form. Each child has different ways of understanding a particular subject and it is important to find out how the child wants to be tutored very early. My style is to have a candid discussion with the child in order to ascertain why the child is having problems with a particular subject and how that child expects to be able to be taught. As a second career I wanted to put something back into my community. So as I went back to school a few years ago to complete my MBA, I thought that I wanted to teach in public schools. I was a non-traditional teacher. I therefore had to work as a substitute teacher and as a tutor because I am not yet certified. So I worked as Coach(Academic K-12)and I enjoy it. A Little Bit About Me...

I have done student teaching at the high school level in Math, specifically, Geometry and Trigonometry. I created innovative new ways to use the materials on hand to reawaken students' natural mathematical curiosity and to exemplify the concepts of the courses. I have done one semester of long term substitute work in which I taught underprivileged children Physics and Physical Science. I had to design the curriculum from the ground up because they had rotating substitutes before I took over.
