A Little Bit About Me...

I have tutored friend's children over the course of several years. I have taught religious studies for over 15 years to youth ages 14. I have worked extensively with children in my various lines of work in the mental health field and foster care. I love teaching and working with children and appreciate that no two children are the same nor do they learn the same way. My teaching style is very flexible. Because I have worked with children, teenagers, and adults, the ability to adapt to the learner's ability level is especially important. Not all people learn at the exact pact, therefore, flexibility is essential as well as non traditional teaching methods. Some non traditional teaching methods I have applied include interpreting math problems through real life situations. I find that some kids will relate to NBA references while others prefer food examples. Either way, it keeps the child interested which is the key role of a good tutor.

I am currently enrolled at the university of phoenix where I will begin a masters in education this upcoming month. I have a BA in human services, which has allowed me to gain understanding about children and adolecents and what are some of the motivators that may be able to help them want to learn and go forth seeking higher education.
