A Little Bit About Me...

At Adult Basic and Literature Education, I serve as a math and grammar tutor in the GED and ESOL programs. Also, I assist the students on how to obtain basic computer techniques so that they can operate the computer. I am able to communicate with Spanish-speaking students and read French. As for my technical, web designing, and software knowledge, I have a background in computer troubleshooting, Adobe Photoshop, HMTL, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, etcetera. My comments on tutoring Microsoft Excel : As an internal auditor I have learned how to mine data using excel. Filtering data, pivot tables, writing formulas using left, , PV, FV, PMT, right, mid, find, vlookup, trim, if, sumif and consolidate.

I want my students to be able to make sense out of concepts. Once they relate to the topic the fundimentals of working with the concepts is more realistic. I general guide the student to help them develope the concepts.

My comments on tutoring Microsoft Excel : I taught this course at Remington College

Punctual - prepared and professional. I look at learning rep. styles of students (pictorial, word or kinesthehic). I try to make the learning experience as painless as possible (especially math). I start with pre-tests to gauge where a student is at, then follow-up with teaching content and finish with a post-test to gauge learing objectives that have been met. Depending on the subject, I like to schedule 2-2.5 hrs ateach session. I also like to work out problems for students and e-mail them the results, where applicable.
