You can do anything you set your mind to!

I have tutored kids at my Church whenever someone has needed help. I am very patient and understanding of how frustrating certain topics can be, so I know I am a great candidate for tutoring. I am exceptionally great with younger kids who have ADD or ADHD since I have struggled with that myself. I know exactly how it feels to have a hard time focusing, so I would really be able to help any child with this struggle.

A Little Bit About Me...

I believe that every student has the ability to learn. Teachers must take the time to discover the individual needs of students in order to help all students be successful. I strive to provide individualized instruction in all areas and for all children. I firmly believe in involving a child's parents in all aspects of their education. Parents are a child's first teachers!
I have been teaching students with special needs for the past 14 years. I have experience with preschool through 6th grade. I also worked at Sylvan Learning Center, where I worked with students through 12th grade. I especially enjoy working with students with Learning Disabilities, lower cognitive abilities, and children on the Autism Spectrum. I am trained in a reading program for children with Dyslexia. A Little Bit About Me...

I believe that for languages, immersion is the best, if most impractical, way of teaching. Therefore, it is my goal to speak as much in the target language as possible in order to increase exposure to the language. I also believe that repetition is key, but through interactive games and everyday tasks, the rote memorization disappears within the layers of common use. Whether through writing it out, singing a song, or playing a game, each child's individual learning style affects how we can learn together.
I spent a year in Spain teaching English to elementary school students through games and interactive methods. I tutored Auburn students during my time there, and have worked with kids of all ages since I was 12. I am fluent in Spanish and highly proficient in French. My travels have taken me throughout Europe and I love to communicate not only language but the cultures that speak ... read more

More About This Tutor...

I firmly believe that all teachers need to do the following things in order to be a well-rounded and thorough instructor: * be acutely aware of the core concepts to be taught * have deep knowledge of facts * organize related features and skills * activate learners' prior knowledge and experiences * design lessons based on national and state standards * connect curriculum to other content areas * Always provide accommodations in order to meet the needs of all students * Work well with other faculty members. In order for a successful teacher to accomplish the above, it would definitely take more than just a "little bit of knowledge," - rather, it takes thorough planning, conceptualizing, and calculating to be the best.

More About This Tutor...

My teaching style follows one important rule: NEVER become so concerned with following my lesson plans to the letter that I miss what is truly important: teaching moments. A teacher has to learn to listen to his or her class and realize when the moment to abandon the lesson plan has come. This willingness to release some control over the class and allow it to develop more or less organically does not always come easily, however. Goal-induced anxiety can make a teacher reluctant to let go of the reins out of fear that the class will go off in some random direction.
As an elementary educator of 3 years, I was instrumental in developing and implementing a working curriculum consistent with individual and group learning needs of my Language Arts students. I sought to improve on-task behavior by setting high expectations for student behavior, maintaining standards through classroom mana ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

As a lifelong learner I have spent the last two years working on my teaching degree in Elementary Education. I have spent many hours working and observing students in all grades from K-6 the in the state of Alabama and in Florida. I have been able to gain a great understanding through a very well rounded Education program at Athens State University. The program has helped me to understand how to apply my studies and hands on experiences within the school systems to become a knowledgeable and professional teacher.
As a teacher I am a firm believer that all students can learn. It is my job to be a positive supportive professional. I want all students to have a comfortable non threatening learning environment that is conducive for learning. I will work very hard to meet the learning needs of all students, if that means making accommodations for their learning needs. I understand that ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

As one of Jehovah's Witnesses, I have been involved in a learning program my entire life. As we knock on individuals doors daily, we come across individuals who cannot read. With simple material and pinpoint techniques, we can teach these individuals to read fluently. I have volunteered in the English and Spanish fields for a combined 13 years. I have an Associates of Applied Science in Architecture Design and a Certification in Architectural/Civil Drafting. I received my TESOL from the Canadian Institute of English. I attended an intense one week course where I had to not only be the student but also the teacher.
Children need a good foundation to learning. My program of teaching includes vocabulary, grammar, composition, reading, and pronunciation. Of these skills the most important are reading and correct pronunciation. I incorporate TESOL methods such as The Communicative Appr ... read more
