A Little Bit About Me...

Currently, I am finishing my second year of teaching at the High School level. I teach 5 classes, grades 9-12, design the set designs for the school play, coordinate a 35 member art club and tutor reading and comprehension for the Reading School District. Teaching has been a passion of mine since I was in High School and I am blessed to say I love what I do. Currently, I have just finished graduate school and have received my M.A. Degree in Education.
My teaching style has derived from the many experiences that I have encountered. I tend to employ a quiet but direct approach to learning. Q and A sessions begin each session. We review the homework and past experiences of the student. I encourage students to write down their concerns and mark the areas of confusion at the time these arise. That way the students don't forget to bring them to my attention. I like to break down large projects into smaller components. The success of the student is the primary goal. A feeling of accomplishment is a close second. I back step and reteach as necessary. I enjoy teaching anyone regardless of his or her age and level of education. Patience and creative presentation are qualities that help me observe a student’s approach to learning and give them an understanding of how to complete a task. I have found that often students’ difficulties are overcome by working through the problems together, explaining ideas in multiple ways until the student is confident in his or her understanding of the idea.
