A Little Bit About Me...

As a second year teacher, I have much experience working with children of various ages. I have taught Kindergarten, Fourth Grade, and I am currently teaching First Grade. I also have had the opportunity to work with students (elementary & secondary) with special needs during my college breaks. Working a wide range of ages of children has helped me to understand their capabilities at a specific age.
I have always treasured working with children. I found my interest when I started babysitting at age 11. I quickly found that my time spent having fun and entertaining children was something I truly enjoyed. As a educator, I understand that all students learn differently. I work at getting to know all my students on a individual level. This helps to keep student’s interests in mind and incorporate it into what we are currently learning. Paying attention to all learning styles in the clas ... read more

In all my years of teaching, I came to the realization that every child is different . When it comes to teaching, I like to learn a little about the child first. Then once I know everything I need to know, I go by what interests the child and I use that to teach them . Although sometimes it is not as simple, I do what ever it is that I have to do to ensure that the child is learning .
I've been working with children since the day I got my first job. I don't know if it is the fact that I am the oldest of 6, or if it is just in my blood to teach . My first job was at a very small day care that consisted of about 14 kids, ages 1 to 12 . I helped the older children with their homework and with the younger children, our day consisted of fun learning games . I also worked at Unlimited Tutoring for 3 years, there I helped tutor children ages 6 to 15 in Math, Reading, English, and History.

A Little Bit About Me...

I believe that each child is a unique individual who needs a secure, caring, and stimulating atmosphere in which to grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially. It is my desire as a educator to help students meet their fullest potential in these areas by providing an environment that is safe, supports risk-taking, and invites a sharing of ideas. There are three elements that I believe are conducive to establishing such an environment, (1) the teacher acting as a guide, (2) allowing the child's natural curiosity to direct his/her learning, and (3) promoting respect for all things and all people. For myself, teaching provides an opportunity for continual learning and growth. One of my hopes as an educator is to instill a love of learning in my students, as I share my own passion for learning with them. I feel there is a need for compassionate, strong, and dedicat ... read more

With a BS degree in Information Technology, minor in Religion and currently pursuing a MS degree in Professional and Technical Communication, I have the diverse background that enables me to understand various academic areas in depth. I have been teaching the art of dance for 6+ years now and have perfected the ability to work with students from the age of 3 to adults. I have tutored elementary students when I was in high school and although I have not tutored since, working with kids from a different perspective (other than academics) has helped me understand kid's psyche in depth.
I am a firm believer that if a student is allowed and taught to think independently, they will discover their own way of learning. Each student is different in the way in which they tackle various subjects, it is important as the educator to understand that approach and encourage the student to discover ... read more

I am a successful graduate of Susquehanna University, having earned a BA in International Studies. This study of cultural anthropology allowed me ample experience with writing, grammar, and research. I will be attending Rutgers University next year to earn a Master of Science degree in Microbiology. I am very experienced in the subjects of Biology, Chemistry, and Math on all levels. In addition to my devotion to the sciences, I have maintained an advanced-conversational level of fluency in French and an ability in the creative arts through coursework at the collegiate level and would be able to teach those as well.
As a student who has dabbled in so many areas, it is easy for me to assess when a teacher/professor is not explaining a concept in a method that helps the students. I have previous experience tutoring, but my teaching talent comes from my role as the unofficial tutor for ... read more

As a recent college graduate, I feel I have achieved a level of experience that allows me to share my knowledge with others. I have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Communications Arts, which gives me the ability to master communicating with others and furthermore - teaching others. I have worked at an after school program and as a babysitter for a total of 5 years so I am experienced at tutoring. I worked as a choreographer for 5 years as well - which shows my teaching experience and dance experience.
I love teaching and watching children succeed. All children learn differently, which is why I alter my teaching techniques based on their learning methods. I figure out what suits them best and than use that method to teach them. In my opinion this achieves a high success rate.

More About This Tutor...

As an educator and mother, I have learned to be patience with kids and that is important for a teacher. Some kids require more time to learn than others do. I am persistence, tolerant, and love to challenge their little minds with didactic games. I think that listening to children is important to understand their needs. I also believe that sometimes leaning and fun can go hand and hand, and having a sense of humor sometimes makes things easier. Kids love to learn new things and so do I. I think my curiosity is one of my principal qualities; I am very curious in leaning. I am enthusiastic, responsible, respectful, fair and mature. I am happy with my work and sometimes think that I could not live if I were not able to teach.

Since middle school, I have been tutoring my classmates on a casual level. I have helped them with difficult concepts, taught them how to outline, and, continuing even now to law students, I have read numerous Research, English, and Composition papers. In my last semester of college, I worked at our campus Writing Center as a tutor and was hired to be a private tutor for an eight-year-old home-schooled student. As an MFA student, I had been in an active workshop for two years, critiquing an average of 50 pages of creative writing per week. As a volunteer, I work one-on-one with a hospital patient on poetry once a week.
I have a casual teaching style, one that I have kept with me since I was young. My parents have been phenomenal teachers to me merely through their nature, and in school, I have been extremely fortunate enough to have several outstanding teachers along the way who ha ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching experience was ultimately a learning experience for me. While attending Brown University to get my MFA in Fiction Writing, I also got the opportunity to teach two college courses in my discipline. What I find is that teaching ultimately blends all of my favorite qualities--listening, learning, discipline, direction and conversation--in order to be successful. I am blessed with a good, solid education from two fantastic institutions, Brown University and the University of Chicago. I have a wide range of experience from tutoring when I was younger. I also have the liberal arts foundation, and fantastic study habits, which will be useful tools to pass on to your son or daughter.
My teaching style is direct, disciplined, relaxed and conversational. It will not work to just dictate to a student! The point, I think, in tutoring, is to develop good study habits and iden ... read more

As a high school student as well an undergraduate, I always chose to use my extracurricular time towards enriching and educating others. I did so through health and sexual education outreach, being a counselor at the YMCA and Boys & Girls Club, dance/art assistant teaching, and volunteering at UCLA Children's Hospital. As a Political Science major, I was no stranger to hard work, particularly in writing. It strengthened my passion for words, honed my analytical skills and made me an excellent proofreader and editor for various publications. I have tutored students in English and the arts primarily and thoroughly enjoy it. Being around children is one of the most mutually beneficial learning opportunities.

I enjoy teaching fun, insightful classes that require participation and answering questions. I can help with homework, term papers, reports and research.
