Social Studies is one of my top subjects! I have taught Social Studies in 1st, 2nd, 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th grades. Especially loved the older grades, as we could really delve into the topic at hand. Brainstorming, discussion, and projects were a huge part of my class.

I have worked with children in a variety of settings and ages over the past 25 years: church camp counselor, gymnastics coach, dance instructor, theater, forensics judge, tutor, and classroom teacher. I developed my passion for teaching others from a a pre-college program I was in called Upward Bound. I learned study skills, time management and other skills that helped me excel in college. As a student I enjoyed most the teachers who facilitated learning. Teachers who lead students on a road of discovery as they learned, who taught me how to think and not what to think. I model my teaching after the same style I enjoyed as a student. Helping a student discover for themselves the material not only educates them but fosters a passion for the subject at hand. As an undergrad student at the University of Wisconsin, I worked as a writing assistant in the Academic Resource Center assisting students with reading, writing and grammar. A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated from UW-Madison with a Finance degree and my MBA degree with an Investment Management focus at UW-Milwaukee in December of 2009. I tutored for nearly two years while at UW-Madison and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I have current knowledge of financial concepts as I am currently enrolled in school and I believe this current knowledge would be an asset in aiding a student learn some of the financial concepts out there.
The hardest thing about teaching is determining how the individual student learns. Every student is unique and has different ways of doing things. In a swimming pool, you can see physical improvements in technique which ultimately improves performance. In teaching, it is different.
