I find that positive reinforcement of previously acquired skills encourages further learning. I also use creative everyday examples to help students understand topics better. I begin by observing the person. In which areas are they confident and strong? In which areas are they fearful and using avoidance? I then find a bridge from their place of confidence to their place of fear and coax them across until they are happily skipping across.
