Reading Comprehension is one of my top subjects! I have taught reading for four years. I have taught grades Kindergarten through fifth grade reading curriculum. I provide reading interventions daily for my students, as well as the core reading curriculum. I am familiar with Corrective Reading, Six Minute Solutions Fluency, Sound Partners, etc. I have had extensive practice with teaching comprehension skills and building blending/decoding skills. I have been a teacher for 7 years. I have taught in a small-town private, Christian two-room schoolhouse (K-8); I currently substitute teach for OPS, and have been to all but one school in the district. I have also tutored on and off over the years, both individually and in small groups, both privately and through school district or companies. I enjoy working with students in a smaller setting, especially one or two at a time, and helping them understand concepts and thus succeed in their schoolwork.
The process is just as important as the product. A Little Bit About Me...

Prior to and during my employment with Metropolitan Community College (Between 1998 and 2007) I was a volunteer tutor with non traditional students in the Adult Basic Education/General Education Development ABE/GED program of Metro community college.
I love to see the proverbial light come on and the students eyes widen and they say "OH! I get it!" I've tutored a wide variety of students from diverse backgrounds. I try to make mathematics fun, like a puzzle to be figured out, and remove the "hard chore" stigma which is generally hard pressed into a students mind by the time I arrive. Getting the student to believe in themselves and believe mathematics isn't a daunting task it's just difficult until you learn the tricks is my goal. I've notice most students find word problems to be most challenging so I purchased a word problem book to draw examples from which seems to help.
