I truly enjoy teaching. I believe that a child can learn anything, as long as they have a supportive learning environment. I belive that I have a unique teaching style. I am a whole language and phonetic teacher. I like to teach my children using the multiple intelligences, because we all learn in different ways. I have taken many courses over an extended period of time. In 2002 I entered the Surgical Technology program at Jefferson Technical College; I managed a 4.00 and missed only a couple of days. During the many testing phases of the program I stayed and helped get other students through the program, I was commended on my drive and determination to help other students, all while maintaining my grade average. I pulled down some of the highest scores in the programs history. I believe each student can learn and it’s my responsibility to find how each one learns best. So much of it is about instilling confidence in the student that he or she is intelligent and capable of mastering the subject. I have been very successful at this and have often had short tutoring assignments: once we discover what is keeping a student from grasping the subject, fixing it is easy and then the student can proceed on their own with or without the help of a parent. The younger the student, the more I appreciate having the parent involved in what I am doing, and the results we are achieving, so they can actively participate with their child, especially once I am no longer needed.
