Study Skills is one of my top subjects! I am a determined problem solver. I have an outstanding ability to find a way for the student to learn the material in a way that interests him or her and is much easier to understand. It's almost as if I am translating a foreign language.

I am honored to have been able to help different populations from the pre-K in reading to the elderly in computer basics. I am fortunate in the ability to pick up on the needs of individuals and how to adapt to their learning styles. I spent one year tutoring accounting students who had difficulty grasping the basic concepts of accounting. I was able to explain the accounting concepts in different wording than the text books and I also created a "cheat" sheet to help them understand how to handle different accounting transactions. The students I tutored always improved their grades dramatically and quickly. This gave me immense satisfaction! I always strive to make a difference in students' lives.
I graduated from California State University at San Francisco. While there I mastered my major of accounting as well as my minor in economics. My favorite jobs that I have had dealt with working with children. I love working with children and making a difference in their lives. No two children are the same and that is why they deserve one on one communication. Each child has their own way of learning and that is why it is important to get to know them on a personal level.
For the past four summers I have worked in a childcare setting. Last summer I did an internship at a Headstart and the previous three summers I worked at a daycare. While I was a student at the College of Menominee Nation I was a tutor in the accounting and math areas. I am also very good with computers. I have been out of school for a few years, but I am always willing to help out anyone who had a question, and If I can help them out it's all the better.

I volunteered for the Special Olympics and for the D.A.R.E program from Elementary students back in 2003 and 2008. With the Special Olympics, I helped cook and serve food to the contestants in the olympics and I also was there to be a friendly and supportive coach-assistant to the athletes. With the D.A.R.E program, I went to Elementary schools in the town of Faribault MN, and I worked along side with the police department to show and educate kids the dangers of meeting strangers and how to handle that type of situation.
