While studying at SUNY ESF I held a position as a teaching assistant for Western Civilization. This involved grading exams and papers, preparing and giving lectures, and holding office hours to assist students with any questions or concerns they may have had. I also spent time volunteering to teach and after school science club through ESF Outreach for elementary / middle school aged children.
I feel as though every student will have their own niche. They will have a special subject that they enjoy the most and one that they despise. Currently, I am a systems engineering graduate student at Penn State University. I have earned a bachelor's degree in applied mathematics from SUNY Oswego with minors in applied statistics and philosophy. My last position was as an academic mentor and tutor for AmeriCorps. I have one year of tutoring experience at Hannibal High School in Hannibal, New York. I tutored students in subjects including mathematics, science and history.

Before I was able to tutor, I taught 7 year old girls cheerleading. When I began to tutor, I enjoyed being one on one with the child. I am very patient, punctual and considerate. First, I believe the teacher has to be passionate and have a true love for what he or she is doing; this is passion, or lack thereof, is evident when interacting with a student.
