I was not offered very many educational opportunities in my youth, but in 2016 I chose to try my hand at being an autodidact (a self-taught person). Within 3 years I went from not knowing basic arithmetic to mastering calculus 2, became a volunteer teacher, scored a 32 on the ACT, and got accepted into Ohio State University as a physics and astrophysics double major. I'm now a senior getting ready to graduate with my undergraduate degree.
I like to meet students where they're at and adjust my teaching methods based on what their aspirations and needs are.

I am a big believer in real life examples and visual cues. I write every little detail so that one can always look back to their notes and have no problem revising. Courses such as biology and psychology are comprised of a ton of theory, therefore diagrams, frequent quizzes and examples play an integral part to learning. I describe the lengthy terms and processes by breaking them down, drawing and explaining the origin of the words. On the other hand, mathematics and statistics require consistent practice. I believe that the key to any kind of scientific or mathematical learning is repetition. It is first important to get to the heart of the concept, and see what is holding someone back from understanding something. While I have not tutored academically in the past, I have taught my community's equivalent of the DARE program to fourth grade classes for two years and have also taught art lessons to children of all ages.
