Language Arts is one of my top subjects! I am able to assist in almost all aspects of English Language Arts through college level (ex. reading comprehension, composition, grammar, research, etc.).

I love to incorporate art and sensory experiences into everything I do to really activate the brain. The "Drill and Kill" is very rarely appropriate, so I tailor every approach individually. What works for one student may not work with another. My formal training includes many intervention types and experience with multiple programs and curricula, so I have a large pool from which to draw...then we get creative! My style REALLY aims for those over-arching foundational skills like critical thinking, thought organization, and problem solving. My comments on tutoring Language Arts : I have taught approximately 42 credit hours of language arts instruction at the college level.

Interactive! Students need to apply what they have learned, to reinforce the learning cycle.
My instructional experience includes over 230 credit hours of composition and language arts instruction, including creative writing, literary analysis and Shakespeare. However, most of the instruction has been focused on composition. I developed a bachelor level English course for Pearson Education, working as a writer on a team of three; the course was deployed nationally at over 100 campuses.

My comments on tutoring Language Arts : Able to tutor/teach all Language Arts in any educational forum today.

I have over of 30 years of progressive experience in tutoring young children in the elementary years of education in all subject matter areas. My specialty is literacy and reading, but I am also adept in teaching all of the math curricula as well. I also firmly believe that teaching organizational skills and proper research methodologies are very important for the classroom today--and every child needs these skills in order to excel in the classroom and survive. I am also a qualified art teacher in the NOVA area.
I believe in tutoring so that the child receives feedback and fully understands his/her own limitations and how to overcome obstacles in class. Many children lack positivity in the methodology! I also believe that using art instruction helps children to learn in a more creative manner.
