highly motivated German student-teacher

I am a German student for biology and chemistry and want to become a teacher. I have done my middle examinations here in Germany which are comparable to a Bachelor Degree. I have helped several pupils to get better marks at school here in Germany - in English and Mathmatics. I have done several internships I had to do at schools in Germany. My best experience was when I did two chemistry lessons on two days at a class in its last year at a German college (German word: Gymnasium) - on the second day (after my lesson of the first day) five pupils from other courses wanted to join my lesson - in their free period! Voluntary! The other pupils most have told them something positive about me! I was very surprized and happy.
I am very motivated. I will give my best in tutoring.

I can help you master geography and earth science!

I have five years teaching geography at the community college level. I mostly taught physical geography (more like earth science), but also taught some human geography as well. I have had multiple short term experiences in the field that I believe make my teaching of geography, biology, and earth science more real and not abstract. As a teacher I always used technology and field trips whenever possible.
I like to bring the material "down to earth" by using examples and making comparisons between the material being taught and what the student is familiar with in the own immediate world. When teaching geography and earth science I use many examples of places with the students home region. Southern California is great for that!

GUIDE ON THE SIDE WHO ADDRESSES ALL INTELLIGENCES AND LEARNING STYLES.
MORE THAN 15 YEARS TEACHING IN PUBLIC, PRIVATE SCHOOLS, AND ONE-ON-ONE AND SMALL GROUP TUTORING EXPERIENCE. No matter what the subject is, teaching is an art, and like every art, teaching requires a great understanding of the subject and outstanding communication skills( intrinsic and extrinsic). I like to break down whatever skill I'm teaching in the simplest form at first. This means explaining the concept of the skill in a way that the student can understand what it is we are trying to do. I also try to use a pictorial representation of the skill if that is needed. After that I'll show them how I work a concept with that particular skill in order to allow them to see firsthand what the thought process is and the steps that are needed to use that particular skill. In addition, I love teaching in an environm ... read more

I love to motivate and present information, that is unique. For example, what note or bill is the lowest denomination ever printed and has the portrait of George Washington on it? If you gave me the obvious answer of the one-dollar bill, than that would be the wrong answer. The correct answere is the three-cent note printed in 1862. The bill is still legal tender, although it is worth a lot more as a collector's item. I make my students think. For example, what would happen to you, if you took off your spacesuit on Mars? I'm running out of space, but I made you indulge in critical thinking.

A Little Bit About Me...

As a Pre-medical student, studying Neuroscience, I aspire to one day become a neurosurgeon. In my quest, I’ve decided first—to become a surgical technologist. I’ve served as an ST on annual surgical missions to the Philippines and have dedicated two-years to a clinical internship at Valley Presbyterian Hospital. As I advanced my education in Neuroscience I became responsible for biweekly presentations on various topics such as neurogenesis in Alzheimer’s disease, and neuroanatomical correlates in functional Magnetic Resonance Imaging. I was a Subject Area Tutor for Organic Chemistry and Biology, as well as a Surgical Technology Instructor at Glendale Career College.
Recently I was asked to give a Guest Lecture on Neuroanatomy at Everest College. I wanted to take students on a ride through the nervous system, into subcortical structures, down the spinal cord to synapse onto muscles ... read more

I graduated CSUN in 2008 with honors. I earned BA in Biology and minor in Chemistry. Throughout my educational career I was actively involved in varies associations and research groups. I was always involved in tutoring for varies reasons, helping a friend, volunteering in the association and more often to finance my education.
My teaching style is derived mainly from the students. Some students do better with visual aids and others like repetitions. In any case the goal is to make sure they understand the material. And i always make sure that they learned the concept not just the problem.

More About This Tutor...

I am very patient with students. I am not quick to tell them how to do a problem or what the answer is because the student will never learn how to do it on their own. I allow the student to work through the problem, offering my assistance along the way.
I started tutoring high school students; helping them with anything from test prep to organizational and study skills. I then started tutoring younger children helping them complete their homework, understand their material, and how to study for tests. I have over seven years experience tutoring students and getting results. I love children and helping them succeed in school is my passion.
