UCLA English grad; experience teaching both English and Math

I majored in English Literature and Writing at UCLA, with a focus on British Pre-Reformation Classics, as well as Shakespeare's 1st and 2nd portfolios. I also won 1st Place in the university's Westwind Writing Competition, taking home top prize for Non-Fiction entry. I have experience working on the school newspaper, The Daily Bruin, and extensive journalism experience. Finally, I co-founded The Writers' Den, a school-based organization dedicated to teaching English and Writing to inner-city students (Compton, Inglewood especially).

I have worked in various tutoring facilities. I worked at a nearby Kumon where I helped students with reading and writing. I was in charge of 10-15 students, and I helped them complete their assignment lesson packets. I was a private tutor for over a year. I would meet with each student two times a week. I would help each student with homework, classwork, lessons, and projects. I was recently working at an after school program called Think Together as a teacher's assistant. I helped the teacher manage a thirty student class room. I was in charge of tutoring students who were in danger of falling behind. I encourage and challenge my students. Whether they are studying algebra or learning English, I always provide them easy to remember tips, challenging lessons, and carefully thought out practice questions. When conducting a lesson, I always inform the students of the rules and steps to solve the problem; I try to do this in the most comedic and creative way possible, so the students remembers. Then I go through each problem and/or question with the student a couple of times, then I let the student try a few for themselves.
