As a recent graduate, I have the unique skill of relating to students on their own level. I love listening to their needs and assessing the situation with great care and concern. Everyone has the potentional for greatness, one just needs the right person to inspire.
As a graduate of a sound Liberal Arts College, I've learned that the greatest asset I took away with me was the art of communication. I have earned a Bachelor of Arts in English with a focus in Creative Writing and Spanish. I am currently a mid-career scientist who is looking to transition into the teaching profession. I have tutored high school and college students for several years in chemistry, algebra, physics, and geometry. I have a BS in Chemistry and have taken additional coursework in chemistry and education. I have extensive experience as a chemist working in the laboratory, and have several published research articles in the field.
My goal in teaching is to help students understand how the scientific process affects them on a personal level. I try to connect science and mathematics to the world around them by helping them to understand science in the context of other disciplines, including art and politics. Furthermore, I draw on my experience in environmental and pharmaceutical laboratories to increase interest in the coursework.
