Being a big sister has always been my favorite job; therefore, I have always sought out opportunities to mentor. My style is relaxed and informal, but effective. School already provides enough structure, and with a relaxed mind, information can be processed more easily. 1 hour sessions multiple times a week is the best way for the information to sink in.

I believe that if a student wants to learn a subject and is willing to put forth the effort, that student has the tools to succeed. Quite often they just need help in "how" to learn. There are a lot of subjects that are intimidating to students. I like to demystify and simplify the subject so that the student has a greater chance for success.
I currently am a substitute teacher for all grades from 1st grade to high school. I started this avocation after spending 27 years in the Finance and Accounting areas.
