When I was small I fell in love with American Sign Language, scene then I have been studying and going to school to learn more about this amazing language and culture. I truly believe that students can learn given the proper conditions. Some students learn slower than others so it is important to provide them with the strategies to ensure better chances of success. I try to implement student success strategies throughout any course I teach. For example, showing students how to be organized is a key factor for success. In addition I try to instill confidence in students, which can increase their chances for success. While doing all those things, I believe in the constructivist approach to learning by drawing connections to previous learned information. These are some of the methods I use to ensure success.
I have worked in the field of education all my life. Currently I am pursuing a doctoral degree in Curriculum and Instruction, while teaching courses at a private college. I have tutored college level students in reading and writing skills, but ... read more

I have great patience with children, helping them achieve their educational goals. I believe in helping each child attain his maximum potential, what ever that should be for that individual child. The key, for me, to teaching is to realize that each child learns at a different pace and in a different way. It is my job to tap into that for each child. Each child is an individual and will be treated as such.
I taught handicapped students (Birth through adulthood) for 20 years, with a Public School System in South Florida. My students were labeled with varying exceptionalities, such as: ADD, ADHD, blind, deaf, speech/language delayed, mentally handicapped, and physically handicapped. I earned my Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Central Florida. During college, I tutored a 3rd grade student for one year. Since then, I taught 2nd grade at Heathrow Elementary. I have both tutoring experience and classroom experience. I have volunteered with many different grade levels from Pre-K through 5.
I have always wanted to be a teacher, ever since I was in Kindergarten. Every year I would "take notes" from my classroom teacher and think to myself, "I could do that in my classroom." I have a passion for teaching children. When I see that light bulb hovering above their head, it really makes all the hard work worth it. I am persistent, yet calm during teaching. I stick to the procedures, and let the student find the right path to discovery. I believe that each child wants to learn and grow; they only need to be shown the path to ac ... read more

While earning my degree in physics at the University of Central Florida I found that tutoring was an excellent experience for both my students and me. I have tutored many different subjects including math(from algebra to differential equations), astronomy, physics, chemistry and biology. I taught middle school students through presentations of physics in films. I also aided my student in their research papers and power point presentations as I feel comprehension and writing skills are an important part of science. I truly enjoyed doing this and hope to continue tutoring and teaching.
