I believe that learning through hands-on experience is the best way to fully comprehend material. I want to interest students in academics. To accomplish this, a teacher must show how math, or reading is useful; how anything can be exciting. I want to make learning fun. And I use a variety of tactics to accomplish this.
I recently graduated from Bard College, a selective liberal arts school in New York. I have taken classes in a variety of subjects including biology, french, history, and writing. A Little Bit About Me...

One year after graduating from Westminster High School, I began substitute teaching for Carroll County in many different subjects. Through these opportunities I became aware of The Arc of Carroll County, where I decided to apply for a full-time job as an instructional assistant, where I have spent the last five years working with the developmentally disabled population. Often people will not consider an infant or toddler a "functioning human being" until the child can speak. This is so inaccurate! I taught one of my daughters to read at age four.
