Cogito Ergo Sum- I think therefore I am

I have a passion for learning and sharing knowledge. I hold two masters' degrees in Biomedical Science and Neuroscience and am working towards a Doctoral Degree now. I have published Scientific Papers in reputed Scientific Journals. I have the ability to simplify the most difficult concept and use illustration to teach. I do not believe that students should memorize each and every word of the subject matter. Education is like a building and knowledge earned at every step of the way should be a brick in the wall. I have trained in yoga and meditation to help release and manage stress especially during the exam time. Therefore, folks who agree to my philosophy and want to undergo a good learning experience you are at the right profile.

Anatomy is one of my top subjects! I am an Expert and can teach at any level including students od medicine

My philosophy of teaching essentially revolves around the following areas of focus 1. Identify principles of adult learning so I may assess the learners' needs 2. Design an educational intervention and establish student-centered learning environment 3. Employ venue-specific teaching skills for ambulatory teaching, bed-side teaching, large-group presentations, Small group/case-based teaching and where it is available and possible Simulator-based teaching 4. Recognize effective learner assessment strategies and learn to provide meaningful feedback so they may set educational expectations and at the same time create an action plan for the "problem" learner 5. Help learners advance in their careers where it is possible and feasible 6. Foster critical thinking skills so they may effectively use questions to promote critical decision making 7. My comments on tutoring Anatomy : I teach anatomy at this time to my 4/5 split class. I have studied anatomy for 2 years both in the high school setting as well as the college setting and dance setting.

I have been working with the school system for several years. I am currently teaching a fourth/fifth grade split. I am very experienced in working with children who are at risk, special needs, and add/adhd. I have a proven track record of student growth in core subjects of 1 year 3 months. I enjoy tutoring and teaching and I work a great deal with parents in order to keep the educational goals on the same page for their child. I have experience in both the world of sociology and psychology. I am able to adapt to behavioral issues that plague some children. I work hard to really get to know the student and help them calm themselves if they should have test anxiety etc. Every child is unique and all children have to be taught in the way in which they can truly learn. I always teach with different styles due to my experience working in China, Ohio, and other areas.

I want every one of my students to have a positive learning experience and will do my best to provide a constructive and nurturing environment for each and every student to reach his/her potential. My love of learning was greatly influenced by my teachers. I still remember them and try to emulate their genuine love of the material and their love of all their students. I love the learning process and teaching children. With patience and care every child has the potential to learn whatever they set their minds to learn. Showing children how to visualize abstract concepts like science is very rewarding. It is a wonderful feeling as a teacher when they reach that "AHA" moment. My process is very simple: 1) present the information to the student , 2) ask the student questions to ensure they understand the information or concept, 3) inform the student what information should be memorized, 4) revisit the information in following sessions to reinforce what was learned.

A Little Bit About Me...

Without a doubt I am an excellent candidate for this position based on my teaching style, my life experience, my education, my enthusiasm and my love for science and life-long learning. Not only do I have the advantage of being raised in central Ohio, I have the added benefit of being educated across these United States and I bring these experiences into the classroom in order to authenticate my lesson plans. I feel that science is the key to a student’s interest in the world around them and any student can become excited about their surrounds if the right stimulus is applied.
After returning to Ohio Dominican University to complete my certification to teach science, I was a long term substitute teacher and tutor in several central Ohio school districts. In 2005 I took a position as a Science/Math teacher in a remote Eskimo village in the Alaskan bush until 2010. During my tenure i ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

Graduating from a liberal arts univeristy with a Bachelor's degree in Biology along with a minor in Chemistry has provided for me an incredibly well rounded educational experience. I have a solid understanding of the the natural sciences along with comprehensive lab experience in anatomy, physiology, organic chemistry, inorganic chemistry, along with other disciplines. As a Junior and Senior I found it very rewarding to help the younger students grasp biochemical concepts.
Since I find Biochemical processes so exciting, it is easy for me to get other students excited about them as well. Many students feel that the sciences are boring and dull. However, when I explain the processes to the students in their own terms instead of the textbooks they begin to realize that it can be fun! The first step to getting a student to understand the natural sciences is to spark some interest. This ... read more

During my undergraduate studies at OSU I was trained by Americorps to tutor elementary students in reading and math. I worked for two years in the Columbus Public School System helping students that were behind their grade level in those subject areas. In my current high school position I teach a Career Based Intervention class and I assist students with their English, Science, Math and History lessons. Over the course of pursing my own education, bachelors and masters, I have acquired skills in grammer and punctuation due to the accuracy that was required for my journalism assignments and research papers.

I am a recent graduate of The Ohio State University, where I earned my BS in Microbiology. My strong background in science and mathematics allowed me to tutor students in both chemistry and microbiology during my time as an undergraduate. Being the daughter of an English teacher, my writing skills were further polished by time spent in college English classes and writing countless lab reports in microbiology, chemistry, and biochemistry.
I've worked with both high school and college students, both gifted and disadvantaged students, and I believe that the key to being a successful tutor is understanding your student and how he/she learns. Through my experiences, I've learned how to explain subject matter in a way that enables students to repeat back to me in their own words what I just explained. This is critical. I believe students learn best by understanding first, and memorizing ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I have a very relaxed and hands on approach to teaching as this is the way that I learn. I like to sit one on one with a student to communicate the material, but to also figure out the best way that they need to hear it in order to learn. Some people need the one on one in order to focus, but others need it in order to organize and attack the information. I love teaching and would be honored to work with your students to help them pass any class in English or language arts so that they can be successful.
I am a returned Peace Corps Volunteer who taught overseas in Central and East Asia. I feel that teaching is a dynamic affair; everybody learns a little differently. Knowing this, it is a must to be open with the students allowing them to ask questions as needed and asking them questions about the material to help them through the problem. In doing so, you allow the student to learn how to work through a problem to find the answer.
During my undergraduate education at the Ohio State University, I was involved in a science heavy major, Nutrition and Community Health. The core sciences were mainly in the area of chemistry and biochemistry. Though I do not have experience with tutoring or teaching for school, I have some experience with teaching and mentoring through the Army National Guard. I am responsible for training up to 10 soldiers some basic knowledge of our job specialty.
