While at the University of Tulsa I have tutored in both math and chemistry, so I have experience with those subjects in particular. Though I received a bachelors in Psychology I was also pre-med, so I was required to take several heavy science courses as well. As such I am also proficient in several biological subjects.
Generally I will try to ask questions to see which specific points a student needs assistance with and make sure they understand the material on a fundamental level. I also believe that practice and hands-on experiences teach the most, so there tends to be an emphasis on working through problems step-by-step than lecturing. Ultimately I am flexible, and can change my style and routine to accommodate the students' needs.

I use a "leading" style of Discovery Learning. I lead the student to the place where he or she DISCOVERS how to work the problems. This way, the learning is imbedded in the mind of the student, rather than just being something that was told to them.

After twelve semesters of college and a wide variety of courses, my college experience has left me with quite the education and still more to come. While studying physics at the University of Texas, I was exposed to a variety of educational experiences. My course work provided me with extensive study in mathematics and in physics courses designed for science majors. Also, I worked in the Lecture Demonstrations office, which provided working demonstration props for use in lower division physics courses taught to students of both science and non-science backgrounds. I love to learn and everyone learns differently. I believe that if the information is not being understood one way, then we need to find another way to instruct.
