I first determine the student's level in each subject, and tutor accordingly. Since every person learns in a different way, I may try more than one approach until it is clear that the student is gaining an understanding of the subject matter. I am patient, positive, and encouraging. I find it very rewarding to help others. When I see the student learning and advancing, I share in their joy at overcoming a stumbling block, or accomplishing their goal.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have always had a natural curiosity for learning Mathematics and a desire to teach others. I remember being a student in Elementary School struggling to understand a particular concept and then imagining myself explaining this concept to others once I achieved understanding. Mathematics has always been challenging for me but noticed that as long as I was persistent I always acquired knowledge of the material. I was exposed to many different math instructors and many of them motivated me to learn mathematics and inspired me to want to teach. I love helping a student come to a mathematical conclusion on his/her own. My 7th graders discovered the distributive prop through an investigation about theater seats. I also remember showing my Alg2 students why borrowing works using $1, $10, and $100 bills and trading with the bank. They were so excited to finally understand subtraction. What a thrill for me! However, when a frustrated Junior was having trouble calculating determinants correctly, it simply didn’t make sense to start at the beginning and help her discover how determinants work.
