I have worked as a tutor for 10 years in all subjects, especially focusing on ESL learners. Recently, I have worked in an ESL school (FLS International) with university age students seeking to matriculate into American Universities. Before that, I worked in South Korea teaching English. I rely on motivational strategies to encourage positive student behaviors by being positive myself and through the following strategies. When possible I allow student choice for what the student wants to work on. A student can finish an assignment in what order makes sense to him as long as he finishes. Or he can break up how much of each assignment he wants to do. I also use flexibility in my teaching methods.
