Love Teaching

I've tutored two kids in my neighborhood for 40 buck every two weeks. It was a marvelous experience because they were very respectful young boys...majority of the time. It was kind of hard for them to keep their focus so i drew a plan which was rewarding them with candy and toys, and of course since it was my idea I didn't charge extra. Since Mich of humanity's understanding is based on metaphor, description and its subtleties is a key part of any writing process, be it creative or instructional.My favorite form of writing is creative, however I also enjoy writing essays and other pieces based on fact. A Little Bit About Me...

During graduate school, I was a substitute teacher, taught a teaching writing practicum at UAB, and was a reading tutor. I was a student teacher for 8th grade language arts, and then I was a real teacher for 6th grade English. I have taken 18 hours of graduate level English classes, and this is more than is required to earn a Master's degree in secondary English education. I also have a bachelor's degree in psychology from Samford University, and my background in psychology is also useful as I help students learn.

A Little Bit About Me...

At Birmingham-Southern College, I was the News Editor for the college newspaper for two years. In addition, I have a minor in Journalism. I love to write and I feel that this is one of my strong points. I also tutor two young girls every Wednesday afternoon at Girls, Inc. of Central Alabama. I help them with everything from writing, to reading, to math and history. I am also working on my Masters Degree and will graduate with a Masters Degree in Counseling in 2011.
Before I start tuoring a child, I like to get know them first. I think it's important to build trust with a child before jumping in and telling them what to do. A child will be more likely to accept help from someone they know rather than a total stanger. I like to make learning fun.
