I am a recent high school graduate. I graduated in the top fourth of my class. My GPA is a 3.48. My best subject is math. I enjoy helping and working with others to help them succeed. I completed a class in high school named Teach Cadet where I learned the basics about education and the importance of being a versatile teacher. I was able to work with children from head start to elementary level. I also was a member of two organizations at school where I worked with sixth graders about the importance of goals and worked with fourth graders about the importance of team work.

Teaching is not only my passion but my calling. Having had the opportunity to teach both fifth and second grade specializing in reading I have learned very helpful techniques. My comments on tutoring Creative Writing : This is a subject that has been close to my heart, since elementary school. I love to read and write, and have written many essays and short stories. I have studied creative writing, and would like to some day become an author.

Graduated from Staunton School of Cosmetology, Staunton, Va. 1980. Have had my own cosmetology business from then to the present. Southside Community College, massage therapy, included anatomy and physiology, 2013. Studied business and teaching, at VCU, 1971-72, did not complete degree program.
Relaxed, personal, but concentrate on learning, making progress at student's pace and level of achievement. I will try to make learning fun and interesting.

We do not all learn to speak, read and write languages in the same way. Some of us learn by mostly hearing or saying; some of us learn by mostly seeing and looking; and some of us learn by mostly doing, using touch and moving parts of our bodies or things. I use all three ways to learn when helping others improve their English. I use hearing, seeing and doing. I check what students learn in one way with the other two ways of learning. There is a name for this kind of teaching. It is called the neuro-linguistic approach to teaching English.
For the last seven years, I have taught and tutored English to adults who speak other languages. In the last two years, I have added tutoring students in grades 3-12. A Little Bit About Me...

Education has always been one of my greatest facinations. I achieved a BA in English grammars, a MLA in creative writing, and fifteen credits towards a PhD in literature and literary criticism. I discovered the writing center at my undergraduate university and became a tutor immediately. I found that I was in a position to learn just as much at the students I tutored. Over the past twelve years, I have continued that facination with learning in voluntary tutoring sessions.
I believe in the program of teaching across the curriculum. As a teacher to be, I believe that students are much more willing to participate in writing goood papers when it is in a subject that has meaning for them. If this is not possile, I take an approach to the topic in order to make it more interesting, especially when there are such good internet resources today.
