The University of Delaware has integrated me into the education field with a variety of experiences. I will earn my degree in May of 2011, becoming certified in Elementary Teacher Education and Middle School Social Studies. When I earned my BS in English, with a thirty credit business minor, I already had fifteen years experience working in a family run retail store. I have since worked a range of jobs including teaching business, computer and English classes. I also worked as a computer systems installer, service manager and office manager. Tutoring is very important to me. I learn as well as teach through my process. Although I believe grammar is very important, I aim to teach organizational skills within any student's writing. I have noticed that most students have more difficulty with making connections within their own writing than with grammar. Furthermore, I find an immense pleasure in successfully tutoring a student. I just graduated with a BA in Psychology and are two courses short of a minor in Spanish and Sociology. I've always been very strong in the English/Language Arts/Writing areas as well. I am currently a certified substitute teacher and also already do some elementary tutoring.
